This is AMAZING. There is no way I could have done this by myself.” -Candis |
Last week was Candis’s final home inspection for the Couleecap Home Rehab program. Her mobile home suffered flood damage in 2018. For two years, she has worked to navigate FEMA and other flood programs. She has lived through mold, dishonest contractors, anxiety, health issues (she broke her ankle falling through the compromised kitchen floor), and delays due to a global pandemic. Despite this, Couleecap’s work continued, and this fall was able to replace her mobile home. When asked what she would say to donors who support Couleecap, Candis wanted people to know how grateful she is that Couleecap and these programs exist. “The money you give stays in our local communities. It helps people you know.”
And thank you ever so much for your generosity in awarding me a $500 dollar grant which will go right towards paying my rent this month. And also, just as importantly, it really helps give me a sense of being part of our community. And that folks want to help as much as they can. " - Jen Shepard |
